Your smartphone is a small, easily stolen piece of technology. It can be your lifeline or just a distraction from life. No matter the case, your smartphone needs to be as secure as it can be. It’s not worth the risk of neglecting its security. In this article Securing Your Smartphone: Best Practice, I will teach you five easy steps to increase your security.

Securing Your Smartphone Best Practice

Turn Off Bluetooth When You’re Not Using It

If you’re not using Bluetooth, it’s probably best to turn it off completely. Your phone uses Bluetooth to connect to other devices, and it can be a way to connect to your phone from external devices. That’s one way how hackers will try to gain access to your devices. So it’s best to be safe and turn it off when it’s not in use.

Only Download Applications from Trusted Sources

When you’re looking for games to download or podcasts to listen to, you should always make sure you’re only downloading them from trusted storefronts, such as the Apple App Store or the Play Store. Doing so ensures you’re not going to accidentally download some sort of malicious software. It’s always best to be careful, and if you’re not sure, don’t download it.

Get Issues Repaired ASAP

When you notice a problem with your phone, you should get it repaired sooner rather than later. Any vulnerabilities might impact the phone’s security, making it easier to hack. Of course, if the problems are with the hardware rather than the software, that’s less likely to be the case. But it’s still best to find a cell phone repair service you can trust and get the issue dealt with.

Avoid Public WiFi Where Possible

Public wifi is another thing that you’ll probably want to avoid if possible. WiFi that’s used freely by lots of different people is not secured, and therefore it’s not safe. You don’t want people to use an unsecured network as a way of accessing your devices and handing criminals access to everything on your device. Stick to trusted and protected wifi, such as your own. If you need WiFi access outside of your home or business, consider using an encrypted VPN service. I recommend you to click on Surfshark.

Keep Apps and the OS Updated

One of the things that people often overlook is the importance of keeping their apps and operating systems up to date. Yes, it might be annoying when your phone wants to install an update and restart the whole system, but those updates are rolled out for a reason. More often than not, they contain some sort of software patch that makes the app or the entire OS more secure than it was before.

As you can see, there are lots of things you can and should be doing if you want to keep Securing Your Smartphone. All of your personal and financial information is on those devices in one way or another, so it makes sense to start implementing the changes discussed above.
