Multiple monitors are great for improving your workflow. Many people these days use two or three, but in some cases, the more, the merrier. While some docking stations support up to four external monitors, the new Plugable UD-7400PD utilizes the new Synaptics DisplayLink DL-7400 chipset to support up to FIVE monitors.
“Plugable has been a longstanding DisplayLink GPU Agnostic™ technology partner, and we’re thrilled to launch DockTag™ together on a flagship dock like the UD-7400PD. By combining the advanced capabilities of our next-gen DL-7400 with Plugable’s focus on usability and performance, we’re redefining what a docking station can offer enterprise and professional users alike.”

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of the Plugable UD-7400PD docking station, as it was unveiled earlier this year at CES 2025, but it is now available from Plugable and Amazon for $279.95. If you act fast, you can even score a 20% launch discount from Amazon!

Plugable UD-7400PD Docking Station Features
With that out of the way, let’s see what else the latest Plugable docking station with support for multiple monitors offers. With two HDMI and three DisplayLink-enabled USB-C ports, the UD-7400PD can simultaneously power up to four 4K and one 8K display. For most use case scenarios, plenty of screen real estate should be available for productivity purposes. Other multiple monitor configurations include up to five 4K 60Hz displays or up to three 8K 30Hz screens.
Other key features include:
- The UD-7400PD Plugable docking station drives up to 5 high-res displays (3x 8K, or 1x 8K + 4x 4K), with up to 140W laptop charging + 30W device charging, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, USB and USB-C ports. It’s what multitasking would look like if multitasking multitasked.
- The USB-C docking station offers 1x HDMI 2.1 (up to 8K 30Hz), 1x HDMI 2.0 (4K 60Hz), and 3x USB-C DisplayLink (4K 60Hz each), so you can extend to up to 5x 4K 60Hz screens or 3x at 8K 30Hz.
- This DisplayLink (driver required) universal docking station uses a combination of HDMI and USB-C ports. It works with Windows 10 or later or macOS 11+ with a video-enabled USB-C or Thunderbolt port—even base M1, M2, M3, and M4 Macs can connect 5 4K displays.
- This USB-C and DisplayLink Docking Station is designed with reliability at its core. It was built to meet the deployment demands of IT departments and the ease of use necessary for home offices. It includes lifetime support from our North American team of connectivity experts.
- Additional ports include two USB-A 10Gbps, Audio In/Out, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, and 140W USB-C Power-Delivery
DockTag
IT departments will also love Plugable’s DockTag feature. This new feature from the company is a “web-based solution designed for faster resolution of IT problems through improved remote support and user self-diagnosis.” If a host computer isn’t connected or DisplayLink software needs to be installed, the dock can display a QR code that users can scan to self-diagnose the issue at hand and be directed to instructions, driver downloads, or other resources.
DockTag also supports asset management, allowing IT admins to manage and register docking stations remotely, track hardware, and schedule maintenance without having to install any software locally. Even better? DockTag supports hotdesking, which allows users to reserve workstations by scanning a dock’s QR code. In a hybrid office situation, this ensures a station with multiple monitors is ready for them to use when they arrive.
If my past experience with Plugable docking stations is any indication, customers can expect a rock-solid experience with the company’s latest docking station with support for multiple monitors!
