Small form factor computers are packing more punch these days. I’ve reviewed a couple of GEEKOM mini PCs for other sites in the past and love their easy upgradeability and value. I’m back in the saddle again here at Cryovex, and my GEEKOM A5 (2025) review takes a look at the latest AMD-powered offering from the company. Not everyone needs a huge or expensive desktop, and these mini PCs from GEEKOM feature solid specifications and performance for everyday basic computing tasks, while still being relatively affordable. These small form factor computers are also easily upgradable and VESA mountable.
Read on for my full review and find out whether or not we can recommend you pick up a GEEKOM A5 (2025) mini PC if you’re in the market for a new computer.

Design: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
Not much has changed, if anything, to the design of the GEEKOM A5 (2025) over the 2023 version I last reviewed. The saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and the GEEKOM mini PC design worked well in the past and continues to work well today. Like its siblings, the GEEKOM A5 is small and pretty nondescript. These mini PCs are about 4 5/8″ wide, 4 3/8″ deep, and a bit taller at just under 2″ in height (the previous models were about 1 3/8″ in height).
The latest version of the A5 still comes in a rose gold colourway and has rounded edges for a smooth finish. The GEEKOM logo is printed across the middle on the top.
The front of this mini PC has two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports, one with always-on power, a 3.5mm audio/mic port, and a small power button. The back is where you’ll find most of the ports, which include the small round 19V power port for the power supply, two USB-C 3.2 Gen2 ports with DisplayPort functionality, two HDMI 2.0b ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, another USB-A 3.2 Gen2 port, and a USB-A 2.0 port. The left and right sides have a grille finish for ventilation. The left has a full-size SD card slot while the right has a Kensington lock slot.
The bottom of the GEEKOM A5 is solid, with four rubber feet screwed into the bottom. Removing the four screws in the feet allows you to easily access the guts of the system. Here you can easily add more storage to the device. Inside the main unit, you can add a 2.5″ SATA SSD drive for storage, upgrade the M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD, as well as replace the SODIMM RAM chips to gain extra memory up to a maximum of 64GB (32GB per channel). You can even add an M.2 2242 SATA SSD for even more storage!

Overall, the GEEKOM A5 (2025) Mini PC is compact yet still easy to upgrade, allowing for the addition of extra RAM and storage. Easily VESA mountable, it can be tucked away out of sight behind a monitor for a cleaner workspace.
Software: Windows 11 Pro runs just fine
While most systems ship with Windows 11 Home, the GEEKOM A5 Mini PC ships with Windows 11 Pro, providing you with full access to all the consumer and business features that Windows 11 has to offer. With Windows 10 finally kicking the bucket in October, Windows 11 is constantly evolving and adding new features. It’s a decent OS with a modern look and feel, and it runs smoothly, especially given the processor and RAM specifications of this mini PC.
Best of all, there’s no excessive bloatware, including antivirus programs, pre-installed on this system, so it is as clean as it gets when it comes to a fresh Windows 11 install.

Performance: Solid for basic tasks
The A5 Mini PC isn’t a slouch either with its AMD Ryzen™ 5 7430U processor. Our review unit came with 16GB (upgradeable to 64GB) of dual-channel DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD drive. The 2023 A5 Mini PC shipped with a 512GB Lexar SSD NM620 PCIe Gen 3×4 NVMe SSD, while the GEEKOM A5 (2025) ships with a 512GB Wodposit (a company I’ve never heard of before) WPBSNM8-512GTP PCIe Gen 3×4 NVMe SSD.
As I usually do, I ran the usual hard drive read/write benchmarks. According to Passmark, this drive should see a sequential read average of 3,047 MBytes/Sec and a sequential write speed average of 2,306 MBytes/Sec. For reference, I’ve also included the read/write benchmarks from the 2023 A5.
GEEKOM A5 (2025) (Wodposit WPBSNM8-512GTP) | GEEKOM A5 (2023) (Lexar NM620) | |
---|---|---|
CrystalDiskMark Seq Read (Q8T1) | 3105.58 MB/s | 3497.63 MB/s |
CrystalDiskMark Seq Write (Q8T1) | 2228.72MB/s | 3122.83 MB/s |
AS SSD Seq Read | 2732.39 MB/s | 2815.31 MB/s |
AS SSD Seq Write | 2137.74 MB/s | 3060.75 MB/s |
ATTO Seq Read (max) | 3240 MB/s | 3260 MB/s |
ATTO Seq Write (max) | 3250 MB/s | 2950 MB/s |
As you can see, the Wodposit SSD underperforms in comparison to the Lexar NM620 from two years ago. While SSDs are pushing over 7000MB/s these days, unless you are gaming or doing intensive graphics or video editing, in real-world use, the speeds on this Wodposit SSD are more than suitable for most users. I did use it extensively for day-to-day work for a few days and had no issues with it. The onboard AMD Radeon™ Vega 8 graphics worked well for document processing, web browsing, video streaming (Netflix at 4K HDR), and even basic photo editing using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

I also had no problems running two 4K monitors on it during testing. In addition, when running and in use all day, the system never got overly warm to the touch.
As mentioned in the Design section above, you can easily upgrade the SSD and RAM, as well as add additional drives (SATA to both and an M.2 2242 SSD) to either system for even better performance. Still, for most day-to-day activities, the GEEKOM A5 (2025) works just fine as configured, although 512GB is pretty close to the bottom of what you’d want for storage.
All that being said, I’d recommend upgrading both the amount of RAM and the SSD drive that comes with the GEEKOM A5 (2025) if you’re planning on doing more graphics-type work.
Price/Value: Super affordable!
The GEEKOM A5 (2025) Mini PC starts at CAD $499 for our review unit with the AMD Ryzen™ 5 7430U processor and 16GB of RAM. The beefier AMD Ryzen™ 7 5825U processor (but still 16GB of RAM) retails for $549. In addition, as of the time of this review being posted, they’re currently on sale and can be picked up for $389 and $449, respectively. The retail prices aren’t too bad, but the sale pricing offers up excellent value for what you get.
GEEKOM mini PCs also come with a 30-day return policy and a 3-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind for years to come.

The Verdict: GEEOKOM A5 (2025)
With a low price point, 3-year warranty, and small footprint, the GEEKOM A5 (2025) Mini PC offers pretty decent performance given its specifications. At the end of the day, this solid little (literally) computer is more than enough for what most people need for day-to-day computing at home or in the office. If you need a little more, you can still purchase the more expensive version and add RAM and a better SSD for under $600 total.
