First time hands-on with the LG Gram line-up! You have in your hands an ultra-lightweight laptop, gorgeous 15-inch screen, tactile keys reminiscent of the chicklets format, a trackpad similar to Apple's, that's just as spot on with many functions. The LG Gram 15 Review will provide you with all the juicy bits, so please keep reading!

First Impression

I'm opening this big white-box, laptop covered with this pellicule plastic film, papers, cable and charger. My reaction when I picked it up was short of “HOLLY BALLS!” this is light. I immediately followed with this is slick and dope! I showcased it to people around, and most of the reaction was like damn!

How much does it cost?

The LG Gram 15 laptop is on the higher-end of the spectrum with a price tag that might make you flinch from the knees. The model I'm rocking comes in at $1699 Canadian.

Key Features LG Gram 15 Review

  • 15.6 inch Full HD IPS Display
  • 10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor
  • 1132g lightweight
  • Body made of magnesium alloy
  • 80wh Battery (Up to 17 hours)
  • Thunderbolt™ 3
  • Touchscreen

In my opinion, the LG Gram line-up is one of the best work/entertainment laptops on the market. The only thing you cannot expect to do is gaming.

What can you do with it?

I'm exclusively using the LG Gram 15 to do my reviews, editing photos, composing photos, video editing and rendering. I have had 0-issues using this laptop to complete my work.

I'm also using this laptop for video conferencing, remoting into Azure and other services to do sysadmin work.

I've been watching Netflix, streaming music, using Kodi and all around my entertainment pal for the duration.

The Design inspiration?

Looking at the LG Gram series laptop, it looks heavily inspired to be the Windows 10 laptop to what the Macbook Air is to Apple. The sleek finish, the availability of ports to connect your accessories, the touch screen, the HD webcam, the large touchpad contribute to its awesomeness.

The shell of the laptop is what you'd expect of a lightweight laptop, not that robust you could even say that some aspects do flex. I'm quite certain that if the laptop was to fall off the table, it would shatter the screen. I'm pretty confident that the rest of the device would be unscathed.

LG is very sure of themselves as the device has passed the durability test of the U.S military's MIL-STD 810G.

Let's stop a minute and look a the keyboard. LG has managed to cram nearly a full-size keyboard in the body of this laptop. Between you and me, I'm still getting used to the keyboard.

The Display resolution?

The display is an IPS touch panel dishing out a 1920×1080 ratio with a very high nit level. You can easily use it under any lighting condition. Go on, hit that YouTube link and watch some glorious HD content!

Everything is as it should when it comes to a laptop monitor. While in a general instance most are matte screens, this one is glossy.

Battery life?

I would surmise that an average user could achieve a normal 8-hours day without having to run for that forsaken power adapter while in the middle of some dire email. The battery is pretty large with its 80Wh size it will last longer than most, and depending on your usage can be more or less what I've experienced.

Can the LG Gram 15 perform?

There's no doubt in my mind. The LG Gram 15 keeps up with the most ardent task thrown at it. Except for processing graphics that found in games. Crammed under the hood is the i7-1065G7, which is part of the 10th Gen Intel Mobile processors, which will keep this baby purring. This model only comes 8GB of RAM, but it doesn't suffer shortcoming under the stress and workload it's been tasked to.

I ran the LG through some benchmarks to see where it excelled and where it fell short.

It performs. But this brings another question, how does the LG Gram 15 manage to stay on its game? What you don't see is the enlarge cooling system inside, which keeps the Gram on point.

Software loaded on the LG Gram 15?

I'm quite happy to see it's almost a vanilla version of Windows 10 64-bit with just some basic software from LG, and nothing else. There's no bloat. You can take it out of the box, configure the initial device for use and that's it, you are good to go. You may want to keep an eye out for the LG Update center the first little while, as it tends to “notify” you of updates.
