CES 2020

It's no secret that this week was CES 2020! A lot of the brands showcased what was being released for this year. Some of the items shown we're not entirely ready. Here's a list of what I've put together about many of the announcements for CES 2020

It's a small list compared to everything that was released at CES. Hopefully, you can get a good idea. There is a lot in the gaming world that was also released and I'm still sifting through it all.

JVC – CES 2020

The JVC XP-EXT1 uses JVC’s proprietary EXOFIELD out-of-head localization sound field processing technology to allow headphone users to experience the full effect of multichannel sound sources, including Dolby AtmosÒ and DTS: XÒ. What’s more, the sound field is optimized for each listener and listening environment to ensure the most realistic and immersive experience possible.

The XP-EXT1 is comprised of two components – headphones and a digital processor – and a companion mobile app. Using microphones built into the headphones, and the dedicated smartphone app, users measure the acoustic characteristics of the listening room, speakers, and the listener’s ears and face. These measurements are compared to a database of acoustic measurements, and a matching algorithm is selected to provide a listening experience tailored to each individual’s listening environment. As a result, home theatre enthusiasts can enjoy multichannel audio up to 7.1.4 channels using headphones, but with the sensation that the sound is coming from virtual speakers. All without disturbing others nearby. The system also supports the up-mixing of two-channel and 5.1-channel material to 7.1.4 channels.

The headphones connect to the processor through 2.4/5GHz dual-band wireless transmission, with automatic selection of the band less likely to experience interference. In addition, the processor has an HDMI input/output terminal that supports output to 4K-compatible displays and projectors, and three HDMI inputs to allow connection of up to three devices. Settings for up to four users can be stored, and settings can be fine-tuned remotely using the app, including a selection of one of four sound modes – Cinema, Music, Game and Custom.

Samsung – CES 2020

Samsung Electronics unveiled its latest lineup of MicroLED, QLED 8K and Lifestyle TVs ahead of CES 2020. With the introduction of new display sizes, 8K AI upscaling capabilities, innovative display orientation technology, and more, Samsung showcased how its 2020 lineups redefine immersion and revolutionize home integration.

MicroLED pioneering

Samsung introduced the home-ready, modular MicroLED, which combines next-generation screen technology with unprecedented customization capabilities. Consumers are now able to personally experience how Samsung’s design and innovation engineering teams have reimagined the TV.

8K QLED lineup expands

Samsung’s flagship Q950TS QLED 8K TV is the industry’s first 8K TV to combine a striking, ultra-thin form factor, premium 8K picture quality, and impressive surround-sound audio. Plus, the Q950TS introduces the ‘Infinity Screen,’ which produces a screen-to-body ratio of 99 percent to create an unprecedented viewing experience.

Lifestyle TV “The Sero”

Samsung is also growing its portfolio of Lifestyle TVs with an expanded rollout of The Sero. The Sero, which means “vertical” in Korean, has the ability to pivot between horizontal and vertical orientations – just like a smartphone or tablet. Following its initial rollout in South Korea last year, Samsung is set to expand The Sero’s availability to several global markets in 2020.

Samsung Electronics is continuing to set the standard for the modern home with a full range of award-winning innovations at CES 2020. These new smart appliances reinvent daily tasks, empowering people to spend their time focusing on the things that they love, with the people that they love, in a space that they love.

Samsung Electronics today unveiled the latest edition of its Family Hub refrigerator with intelligent new features that automate meal planning and other daily tasks and deliver a more personalized experience. Family Hub for 2020 will enable families to more easily share life’s important moments with one another and control more of the connected devices within their smart home.

Intelligent Meal Planning – CES 2020

Family Hub is now more streamlined and more personalized, meaning you’ll spend less time preparing your meals and more time enjoying them. It customizes the entire food experience for you—recommending Smart Recipes based on the dietary preferences you set, helping you come up with a weeklong Meal Plan based on your refrigerator inventory, and preparing your Shopping List with all the right ingredients.

Family Hub’s ViewInside cameras have been upgraded with brand-new AI image recognition technology which automatically scans the products inside your fridge, identifies them, and sends you updates on items your family has added or depleted. Family Hub’s Meal Planner is also smarter, with the Quick Plan feature now offering a week’s worth of recommended recipes with just one click.

Bring Your Family Closer – CES 2020

Since the launch of the Family Board last year, families have been using this virtual bulletin board to enhance life’s special moments and to share favourite songs and images for the whole family to interact with. Now, for the first time, the Family Board supports video clips so you can transfer videos from your smartphone to the refrigerator and relive important memories together.

To make sharing easier, Family Hub has also updated the SmartView feature, which mirrors content from connected Samsung TVs and Samsung mobile devices. With portrait mode, you can enjoy vertical smartphone videos as well as your favourite social media content on the full screen of Family Hub. With almost half a dozen options available, your family members can continue to enjoy music from their favourite music streaming apps.

Connect Control Your Smart Home – CES 2020

The new Family Hub takes managing your smart home to the next level. You can monitor and control over 1,000 SmartThings-compatible products throughout your home: turn your lights on or off, see who’s at the front door, set the temperature, and lock the front door. And with the addition of the new SmartThings Video widget, you can now view multiple security cameras at-a-glance to keep an eye on your entire home from the kitchen.

Samsung Electronics, the global leader in the gaming monitor market*, today introduced its new line-up of groundbreaking curved Odyssey gaming monitors at CES 2020. The new line-up has been completely reimagined with gamers in mind including radically new curved displays and industry-leading performance features for a whole new way to play games.

Comprised of the G9 model – with an industry-leading 49” display – and the G7, available in 32” and 27”, both Odyssey gaming monitors have been completely redesigned and take immersive gaming to the next level. Both monitors feature an extremely deep curvature – the first-ever monitors to possess a high-performance 1000R curvature – and stunning QLED picture quality.

49” G9: The Most Immersive Gaming – CES 2020

The G9 is the world’s first Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD; 5120×1440 resolution) gaming monitor to feature 1ms response time and 240hz RapidCurve™, 32:9 aspect ratio, a deep and immersive 1000R curvature, and a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2. The monitor features Quantum dot technology combined with an HDR1000 VA panel to produce lifelike colours in vivid detail. The combination of quick response time and refresh rate along with industry-leading 1000R curve eliminates distractions and lag time, creating ultra-smooth screen transitions for critical gaming moments where a split second could mean the difference between winning and losing.

The G9 has a striking new design with a glossy white exterior and a futuristic infinity core lighting glowing rear core, which includes 52 colours and five lighting effect options. The design and lighting effects stand out while complementing any gaming setup.

32” and 27” G7: A Whole New Gaming

Gamers will appreciate that the G7 has the same quick response time and refresh rate, deep curved display, and overall performance of the G9, in smaller 32” and 27” models. The G7’s Quad-High Definition (QHD; 2560×1440 resolution), 16:9 aspect ratio and HDR600 VA panel are complemented by a 600 cd/m2 peak brightness. Additionally, the G7’s QLED screen with Quantum dot technology provides an exceptionally wide range of accurate colour reproductions that stay crisp and clear, even in bright light.

The G7 has been completely redesigned with a sleek, matte black exterior and colour-changing rear core lighting that can remain static or dim during gameplay, as well as change colours based on gamers’ preferences. In addition, the G7 has added dynamic shapes and lighting to the monitor`s front bezel.

LG Electronics (LG) – CES 2020

President and Chief Technology Officer Dr. I.P. Park unveiled the framework for the future of artificial intelligence (AI) development with the title of “Levels of AI Experience: the Future of AI and the Human Experience”. The conceptual framework aligns with the LG ThinQ brand and its ambitious vision to transform the daily experience by connecting all aspects of people’s lives with intelligent touchpoints.

This far-reaching plan creates a clear roadmap for AI where the ultimate destination is a cohesive system comprising products and services that can make anywhere feel like home. Speaking at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Dr. Park explained that, amidst a wave of AI-related ideas and concepts, it is important to share a structured framework for the development of AI across the industry so that we may create a meaningful impact on the lives of customers we serve.

The world leader in OLED TVs is raising the bar again in 2020 with 14 new LG OLED models led by three new art-inspired GX Gallery series 4K Ultra HD TVs, 88- and 77-inch class Real 8K models and an all-new OLED screen size – 48-inch. Unveiled at CES® 2020, the new LG OLED TVs – and new 8K and 4K LG NanoCell LCD TVs – are designed to deliver stunning picture quality and innovative design with upgraded performance and artificial intelligence-enabled features that bring movies, sports and video games to life like never before imagined.

At the heart of the latest 8K and 4K, LG OLED and 8K LG NanoCell TVs are a number of advanced core technologies, most notably the new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor. This advanced processor leverages upgraded processing power and artificial intelligence deep learning algorithms to improve on LG’s renowned picture quality and enable a host of specialized features for various types of content including movies, games and sports, taking the user experience to new heights.

LG’s 2020 premium TVs flaunt unique, elegant designs that integrate effortlessly with any home decor. The all-new minimalist Gallery Series takes design to a whole different level with an ultra-thin form factor – the 65-inch model is a mere 20 millimetres (0.79 inches) thin. Paired with an included specially-designed wall mount, these 55-, 65- and 77-inch class models hang completely flush on the wall, providing a dramatic appearance, transforming the OLED into a piece of art.

The GX Gallery series 4K UHD models join the groundbreaking LG OLED WX Wallpaper series (razor-thin 77- and 65-inch models) and the LG SIGNATURE OLED R (model 65RX) to provide genuine space integration and an element of futuristic luxury, elevating their surroundings regardless of whether they’re turned on.

The 2020 LG OLED ZX  Real 8K models, delivering four times more detail than 4K TV and 16 times more than HDTV, exceed the strict requirements established by the Consumer Technology Association’s (CTA) official industry definition for 8K Ultra HD TVs. The 88- and 77-inch LG OLED models also surpass the measurement criteria recommended by the International Committee for Display Metrology and are among the first to earn the new CTA 8K Ultra HD logo.

For 2020, while offering new versions of the two popular 4K UHD series (models CX, BX) in 77-, 65- and 55-inch class sizes, LG is also bringing the unparalleled picture quality of LG OLED TV to all-new screen size – 48-inch. This 4K UHD unit (model OLED48CX) reproduces even sharper picture quality with 8 million-plus pixels on the 48-inch screen, density comparable to that of a 96-inch 8K TV.

The 2020 LG NanoCell TV lineup is highlighted by six Real 8K TV models (75- and 65-inch models in Nano99, Nano97 and Nano95 series), all exceeding the stringent requirements needed to display the official industry 8K UHD logo from CTA.
